   East out of Middlesex Street at No.94 (P.O. Directory).
   Former names: " Strype's Court" (Strype, ed. 1720, I. ii. 28-Lond. Guide, 1758). Stripe's yard" (P.C. 1732). " Tripe Yard " (Horwood, 1799-L.C.C. List of Streets, 1901). " Stripe Street," 1903 (L.C.C. List of Names, 1912).
   Derivation of name: Originally named after the father of John Strype, the historian, as stated by him in his Survey of London. Then corrupted to" Tripe " Yard, and original name restored 1903.
