At the back of the Royal Courts of Justice.First mention: Hatton, 1708.It is unnamed in O. and M. 1677, and seems to form part ofLincoln's Inn Fields, although it appears to have been called "Ballardes Lane" in temp. H. VIII. (q.v.).Nicholas Carey lived there temp. Chas. I. and the lane is said to have been named after him.
