Black Horse Yard, Aldgate High Street
   North out of Aldgate High Street, between Nos. 34 and 35, turning north-east into Middlesex Street (P.O. Directory). In Portsoken Ward.
   Former names : "White Horse Alley" (O. and M. 1677-Hatton, 1708). "Red Cross Court" (1720, Strype, I. ii. 28).
   It seems to have borne its present name since 1746.
